Welcome to the Bampton Shop & Tea Room website – please explore, and if there's anything you can't find, or if you've any questions, please do get in touch. We'll be happy to help!

Who are we?

Bampton Shop & Tea Room is a small shop with a community Post Office, plus a 12-seat tea room and two-room bed and breakfast, in the delightful village of Bampton, near Haweswater in the Lake District. The shop is open daily, offering newspapers, groceries, essentials and sundries. The Post Office is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and the tea room is open daily for hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and light snacks. Check out our News page for the latest on what's on offer and what's going on.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2018 THE SHOP & TEA ROOM WILL CLOSE AT 1PM DAILY, EXCEPT FOR TUESDAYS, WHEN WE WILL CLOSE AT 12 NOON.
If you'd like to come and stay, give us a call or email to check bed and breakfast availability – this is a great area for walkers, with all sorts of attractions to discover and explore.
We are dog friendly, too. We are listed on Dog Friendly Lakes and Dotty 4 Paws, and your canine companions are welcome in the shop and tea room. We also allow dogs in one of our b&b rooms.

Where are we?

We're in the beautiful Lowther Valley in Cumbria, near the foot of Haweswater and close to the valley of Riggindale on the doorstep of some of Lakeland's finest mountains, including High Street, Mardale Ill Bell, and Harter Fell. This is a lovely area for walking, wildlife and scenery. We love the fact that we live in one of the most beautiful, but one of the quietest, corners of the Lake District National Park.

So why not come for a visit and say hello? We'll put the kettle on for you, and there might even be some of Olivia's infamous chocolate brownie or millionaire's shortbread on the go! Or stay the night and make a memorable mini-break out of it! If you need more convincing, check out our 10 Reasons to Stay page – we're sure you'll be convinced!
